Dr. Rom Haghighi
Dr. Rom Haghighi is a senior statistician with over 30 years of experience in managing and analyzing large data sets and conducting statistical analysis. While Rom assists and provides consultation on many projects, his prime responsibility, in the last few years, has been dealing with statistical analysis for disparity studies conducted for various states and local agencies. Rom has vast experience in research and statistics. He earned his Ph.D. from Sam Houston State University with concentration in data mining, data modeling and statistical analysis. He started his career as a university professor teaching various research and statistics related courses on both undergraduate and graduate levels. Following his 21 year career as a college professor, he assumed the position of Director of Research at the Texas Department of Health Services managing a team of researchers, conducting operations research, overseeing statistical analysis, and managing large research grants funded by the state or federal governments.
In 2008, Rom was recruited by the Texas Comptroller of Public Accounts to assist and oversee the largest disparity study ever conducted in the nation. The study included 149 state agencies, 9 medical and health science centers and 52 state universities representing over 2.6 million cases. In that capacity, along with managing the project, Rom conducted all related tasks from data collection up to producing statistical tables, and conducting the final regression analysis. Since then, Rom has worked with or contributed to 8 disparity studies.
