Meet the Team - Getting to Know Hanna Rowell
Hello! My name is Hanna Rowell, and I am a Project Manager with Griffin & Strong.
I joined the firm in 2023, and I have enjoyed applying my academic background to the 7 disparity studies I have had the pleasure of managing so far.
Education
Prior to G&S, I graduated with a bachelor's degree in Economics and a bachelor's degree in International Affairs from the University of Georgia (Go Dawgs!). My most notable achievement during my time at UGA was being nominated for the Bateman Prize and awarded runner up for most outstanding thesis in Economics for my analysis of the environmental impacts of government involvement in Tanzania’s informal sector. I also worked as a Capital Aide and Legislative Fellow for State House Representative Spencer Fyre, focusing on policy and legislative research as well as campaigning.
After graduation, I immediately went on to earn my master’s degree in Development Management, specializing in Applied Development Economics at the London School of Economics. Other than living in London, which has so far been my favorite city on Earth, my favorite part of graduate school was serving as a graduate consultant researching climate resilience and community driven development for a nonprofit based in Rwanda. My primary academic research passions are the political economy of East Africa as well as environmental politics. In undergrad, I also minored in African Languages and Literature as well as Swahili Language, Literature, and Culture. My dream is to someday go to Tanzania!
Interests
Outside of my work as a Project Manager, you can typically find my nose in a book. I picked up the hobby after grad school and have now read 89 books over the past 2 years (my favorite so far being The Women by Kristen Hannah)! I also enjoy getting outside with my dog Maze (pictured), trying new crafts, playing/watching tennis, and searching for shark’s teeth.
